Need to be reminded to send out cheque books. They still haven't got their act together after all their problems. Now they have decided to ditch their charity supporting credit cards. Will not use again.

I was rejected by the Co-op when I tried to open an account with them, even though I consider my finances to be in good order. I’ve got a few thousand in savings, no debts, nothing wrong with my credit rating but they didn’t want my custom. They wouldn’t give me a reason either so I went to Santander who were happy to oblige me in no time at all. More Cooperation needed!

Internet banking at Co-op is pretty poor and the app is even worse as all you can do is view your balance and see recent transactions. Very disappointing, was expecting better.

I left RBS and moved to the Co-op and have no regrets. The transfer was straight forward and completed in a week, and customer service via the phones all seems to be based in the UK. They also helped me when the tax office queried my accounts and the tax I was paying. Big thumbs up

Let down


I joined the Co-op because I thought banking ethically was the least I could do if I wasn’t going to join Greenpeace but am regretting it. After just a few months I’m ready to ditch my principles and move somewhere whose online banking actually lets me do what I want to do. Although the ethical side of things is good, and their products are ok, the internet banking is a complete let down. You can’t sort transactions, search through them or download them, all things that I’d expect to be pretty much standard these days. As much as I want to have morals, I also want to know what I’m spending where without having to find a calculator.

A good bank!


I only normally write reviews when I’ve received terrible service but have been so impressed with the Co-op that I thought I’d write a positive one for a change. I recently opened a current account and after using it for a few days realised what a good bank they are. Setting up my account was quick and easy, while the advisers are polite and efficient. I didn’t have to wait long to speak to someone either. They had such a refreshing attitude compared to my old bank (RBS) that I’ve closed my account with them and moved everything over to the Co-op. If anyone wants an excellent bank with great service, I couldn’t recommend Co-op more.
